So far we’ve established that to really live free means to live without fear and that in order to do so we need to set some beliefs as foundations. These new beliefs may test our old but they are necessary in order to fulfill the requirements to Live Free! The beliefs we’ve established, so far, as necessary, are that there is no meaning except the meaning you give to an event and that it’s all a story anyway and in order to attract good stuff towards you, you need to get some good vibrations happening. Like attracts like. And the way to attract those things that you want into your life is to visualize having them already and to feel good about it. Let’s move on to the next and last belief.
Belief #5: Faith
This may sound strange, a belief about faith. Aren’t they one in the same? In a sense they are for a belief is the action of having faith. If you believe that you are a lucky person then you also have faith that luck comes your way. And vice versa, if you have faith that luck comes your way then you believe that you are a lucky person.
The funny thing is sometimes we have a disconnect. A person may believe that they are a lucky person but for some reason they don’t have faith that the luck will come their way. It doesn’t matter either why that is so, what’s important is that you reconnect the two.
This article is about creating faith and having faith. Why is it so important to have faith? Faith is like the sprinkles on the icing on the cake that we have created. We know from past articles that we create our own lives, our own stories if you will. We know that in order to attract the things that we want into our lives, that we need to visualize and to vibrate at the level of that which we want. The final ingredient is faith.
When we have faith that something is going to happen, eventually, somehow, then our focus is completely on what it is that we want. Let me give you a real example.
Not too long ago, the new iPhone 3G was being released. I wanted one. I put a picture of it on my vision board and looked at it every day. I knew that I would get it. At the time, I didn’t think I had the money to get it but I knew that I wanted it and I had complete faith that I would get it. Let me tell you, I had road block after road block get in my way and I’m not going to waste space or your time on listing them all but suffice to say that I could have given up more than two dozen times. But I didn’t because I had faith. I knew somehow that I would get it and in the end I did. Every time something got in the way, because of my faith in attaining the thing that I wanted, I knew that it was a necessary step in getting what I wanted and I got inspired to try something new.
Now, if I didn’t have the faith, like I said, there were at least two dozen times when I could have quit and I would have no doubt given up one of those times. When you don’t have faith, you are focused on not getting what you want and any one of the reasons that, seemingly at the time, get in the way will stop you. Because you expect that and you make it happen.
Faith is the insurance policy that you will get that which you want. It keeps you focused exclusively – without a doubt – that you will get what you want and therefore essential to getting what you want. It opens up your eyes to divine inspiration in order for you to get what you want. When you have faith you vibrate at the same frequency as that which you want. When you vibrate at the same frequency the universe conspires and will give you hints on how to get it. When you have faith you are looking out for the hints and you will understand the hints. That is called being inspired or as I prefer to call it, divine inspiration. The inspiration is a door opening to that which you want. The great thing is that when you continue having faith, the universe continues to give you inspiration and therefore opening more doors and giving you even more opportunities to get what you want. It’s pretty simple. Have faith and you will get it.
Now, there are two things to look out for when it comes to faith. One is that you might say to yourself: “There’s no way. How can I have faith? I can’t do it.” If so, remind yourself that this is a story that you’ve created for yourself and that you have the choice to change that story. How badly do you want the thing that you want?
The second is you may ask: “How do I muster up the faith”. To that, there is a simple solution. You just do. You decide to have faith, you decide that you know you will get something and that the universe is bringing it to you as quickly as it can. All it requires is a decision. That’s the funny thing about faith, either you have it or you don’t and all it takes is a simple decision.
Holding onto the faith is a whole other game. Remember that you’re in a habit of not having faith, if that is the case. This is the way you’ve operated for as long as you care too. You’re turning over a new leaf and now you have faith. You may have to remind yourself that you now have faith. Studies show that it takes thirty days of concerted effort in order to create a new habit, so keep on reminding yourself that you have faith until it becomes a part of you that you no longer have to wilfully conger up.
Sometimes you’ll also be challenged on keeping the faith. What I mean is that it takes energy to have faith, especially if you haven’t been living with faith for any amount of time or that your habit is to live in doubt. Sometimes you will be in a low energy state. You may not be feeling good that day or you will be focussed on a story of lack or something negative. You have a choice then to either change your energy, by plastering a smile on your face or going for a walk or focussing on a touchstone, or not. There are many books and articles on this subject which is out of the scope of this article but I encourage you to find ways.
Either way, you must find a way to get your energy up in order to muster up the faith. OR, you can just wallow in your negative self. There’s nothing wrong with doing that either, just know that it is not moving you forward. Sometimes, I allow myself to wallow there for a while, maximum a day, and once I’ve been there for long enough it takes practically no effort to get back to a positive high energy state.
Practice having faith every day. It will change your life!
